In 1927, three brothers from Piotrokow Kujawski, Poland, arrived in North America. They went on to settle in Toronto, where they founded Himel Brothers Leather, a Canadian company committed to recreating the processes, techniques and styles of the modern industrial age in the form of perfect garments that can be worn by generations. Himel jackets are a perfect melding of people, leather and craftsmanship, made with respect and time – simple, primitive designs based on earlier cloth jacket designs adapted for the needs of modern man.

The Kensington Cafe Racing Shirt is a classic Himel design. Made of horsehide, this “shirt” is actually a jacket, the sort typically worn for racing or “hill topping.” The style is fits tight and a bit longer, a cut that allows it to be worn over leather racing pants. The jacket tapers at the waist and features decorative welts. The leather is black pigment horsehide that has been vegetable-tanned in Japan for several months using mimosa bark from Australia - the strongest per weight leather in the world. Zippers are original Lightning brand NOS from the 1940s and ’50s. Every jacket is unique and will take on the shape and character of its wearer.
